Vehicle shopping can be frustrating and obtaining financing, regardless of your credit situation can be just as frustrating. In an effort to protect you, the consumer, we decided to conduct a mini-investigation of the worst dealerships and the best dealerships. We've walked away from several dealerships frustrated not only with bad service but false promises, rude individuals, and just a lot of red tape. Apparently they did not know or care that they were dealing with investigators that was monitoring the way consumers were treated. Listed below are the results of our investigation. In the end, we finally purchased the vehicle we wanted with little or no red tape and the salesperson was nice as could be and worked with us every step of the way.

STORY:

We were seeking a new or used vehicle on 11/17/2011 and applied for financing for a vehicle that Giles had on their lot. This vehicle, a 2010 Buick Enclave was listed at the sale price of $26,995.00 and we were told by the salesperson that the vehicle was in stock and it was listed on their website at that price. We were approved for financing and I was told by the salesperson to have my wife go to Giles in Lafayette, Louisiana (approximately 45 minutes away) and pick up the vehicle. However, upon arriving the salesperson realized that the vehicle had been sold by his manager. Some dealerships will have a "bait and switch" tactic and we're not accusing Giles Nissan of such action but when everything was confirmed and my wife arrived to find that the vehicle was sold to a wholesale company, what is one supposed to believe?

This raises a RED FLAG with this dealership and we recommend that consumers STAY AWAY from this dealership.

CarMax guarantees "no haggle" pricing on their vehicles but when you are approved for financing you will not get them to negotiate with you on a lower price for the type of vehicle that you want. They do offer financing for those with sub-standard credit but you will pay a 20.57% interest rate. CONSUMERS SHOULD BEWARE OF THIS DEALERSHIP.

This dealer has a very rude (better-than-you) attitude and should be avoided. The sales manager is one of those rude individuals. Be prepared to put a lot of money down on a vehicle if they get you approved for financing, regardless of your credit. While some employees were nicer than others, you will be disappointed in dealing with this dealership because of some of the people. Be cautious and prepared for a lot of red tape.

You can apply online for financing through this dealer but BEWARE!! They will send you an email and tell you that you are preapproved for financing and when you get to their dealership, will try to put you in another vehicle that you do not want or like. They even advertise on their website GUARANTEED FINANCING but not for the vehicle you want. More red tape in dealing with this dealer. The salesperson was nice, generous, and just as confused as the consumer because he thought approved meant approved no matter what.
